Our Classes

Members of American Warrior Arts get to work on many different skill sets to potentially improve their physical and mental health while also improving their skills in self-defense. Our programs are year-round with new sessions beginning at the start of each month. This means that if a student needs to take time off, their previous rank is honored and their training continues from where they left off. It is our commitment to always offer all students affordable training without contracts, or any long-term commitments.

What Our Clients Say:

Lil' Ninja Parent

Mr. Luke, We have not been participating in your class for every long, but we are very pleased with your ability to keep all students engaged. The way that you get each student to participate and the method of teaching that you use incorporates each student getting your undivided attention once on one for brief instruction and correction of technique as needed per exercise . Acy enjoys attending your classes and we feel that he gets something out of each class that he attends.

Chunin Exam

Welcome to The Annual Youth AWA Chunin Exam! This exam happens once a year during the months of August & September. The students are put into groups of three, randomly chosen from names pulled from a hat on the first day of the tournament. The exam takes place during two months, and by the end the teams are awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. All students are given a patch, pin, certificate, and placement ribbon.

The Youth AWA Chunin Exam is an opportunity for students to demonstrate and test their Martial Arts skills, teamwork ability, and discipline in this 2-month-long Exam. During this 2-month-long exam, there are 8 training days and 8 test days. Each test is designed to test the students focus, teamwork, discipline, and Martial Arts skills. The Chunin Exams were developed to give students the chance at the rank of Chunin, to celebrate their hard work with a fun training camp, and to truly test their skills. While this camp is designed to be fun, it is expected that students give it their all as they now have a team relying on them for a promotion.

All students will be given a piece of cloth that designates their team's color and name to tie around their belt, arm, or leg. All students will also be given a copy of the Chunin Exam schedule, their kata, and their team. Since this Exam is a team exam, all students are expected to show up for every class. If a student misbehaves, they can be removed from the exam.

Once a student competes in 2 Youth AWA Chunin Exams, they will be given the rank of Chunin. After that, they can compete in more Chunin Exams where they will be awarded with a red stripe veteran patch to be placed next to their Chunin patch. Students cannot move up to the Bushido Camp until the Adult class.

All Adult class students 16 and younger are welcome to compete in the Chunin exams, but they must attend the full 2 month training camp in the Youth class. However, they are still welcome to train in the Adult class too. Adult class students older than 16 are welcome to sign up to be judges for the Chunin exam, regardless of rank.

Note: All students are expected to train outside of class time during these months to give their team a better chance in the Exams.

Genin Exam

Welcome to The Annual Lil’ Ninjas Genin Exam! This exam happens once a year during the month of April. The students are put into groups of three, randomly chosen from names pulled from a hat on the first day of the tournament. The exam takes place during the whole month, and by the end the teams will be awarded in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. All students are given a patch, pin, certificate, and placement ribbon. The first place team is also given a double promotion, and all the runner ups receive a single promotion.

The Lil’ Ninjas Genin Exam is an opportunity for members to demonstrate and test their Martial Arts skills, teamwork ability, and discipline in this month-long Exam. During this month-long exam, there are 4 tests and 4 training days. Each test is designed to test the students focus, teamwork, discipline, and Martial Arts skills. The Genin Exams were developed in order to give students the chance to double promote by the end, and celebrate their hard work with a fun Exam. While this Exam is designed to be fun and light hearted, it is expected that students give it their all as they now have a team relying on them for a promotion.

All students will be given a piece of cloth that designates their team's color to tie around their belt, arm, or leg. All students will also be given a copy of the Genin Exam schedule, their kata, and their team. As this Exam is a team exam, all students are expected to show up for every class. If a student misbehaves, they can be removed from the exam.

Once a student competes in 2 Lil’ Ninja Genin Exams, they will be given the rank of Genin. After that, they can compete in more Genin Exams where they will be awarded with a red stripe veteran patch to be placed next to their Genin patch. But a student cannot move up to the Chunin Exams until they are in the Youth Class. Youth class students, from the ages 9-10, are welcome to participate in the Genin Exam. Youth and Adult students older than 12 are welcome to sign up to be judges for the Genin Exam, regardless of rank.

Note: All students are expected to train outside of class time during this month to give their team a better chance in the Exam.

Bushido Camp

The Bushido Camp was written and designed  by Founder Shihan Thomas Sexton of Kuma Kan Martial Arts. After reviewing, I have decided to adopt it into our own programs with slight modifications in order for it to fit our programs. This training camp became the backbone to the designs of our Genin and Chunin Exams. This camp and these Exams work to provide more than what can be offered in a class to class bases. As stated earlier, Shihan Thomas Sexton’s school Kuma Kan Martial Arts has been closed for many years. Keeping a training camp such as this one is crucial as students would no longer get to experience it anywhere else. Participating in this camp pays homage to one of the most important aspects of Kuma Kan provided by Shihan Sexton.

Bushido is a moral code of the samurai’s attitude, behavior and lifestyle. It can be compared to the European code of chivalry. There are multiple Bushido types that have evolved throughout history. Therefore, the Bushido Camp focuses on training in the style of the moral codes of the samurai. It puts the students in the shoes of hard warrior training.

At least once a year, American Warrior Arts will conduct a special training event called Bushido Camp. This weekend-long field training exercise tests the students and instructors to the very limits of their physical and mental endurance. It is a proving ground, a culmination of all that has been learned up to each student’s level of experience. Students and instructors push themselves to excel beyond any classroom area in a battle against the self, the environment, and their own preconceived limitations.
